Switch

Switch outlines a powerful concept about transforming and changing an organization. It is most successful when you focus and combine three critical elements. The first element the Heath brothers talk about is “Direct the Rider.” This is about creating a clear direction, vision or goal to get behind and move on. The more concrete the goal, the more likely you will “Motivate the elephant” which is the emotion that will drive the change. The elephant or the emotions of people can either be the most powerful barrier to change; such as exhaustion verses energized. The third element is key to putting the two together called “Shaping the path.” Creating a clear process or environment drives the rider and elephant to make changes in behavior. There are many stories and great examples of how to use these concepts in your business and personal life.
